The Wesleyan Church is on the opposite side of the road to the Reading Room. According to Non-Conformist Chapels and Meeting Houses, Derbyshire (1986), it was built in 1829, and enlarged in 1879.

Elsewhere online[1] it has been noted as “the birthplace of the Methodist Local Preachers' Mutual Aid Association”.
