son of Major & Mrs E. LUCAS, husband of Dorothy of Stow on the Wold
Commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt

Here sleepeth in the Lord with certain hope of the resvrrestion the body of
William COPE of Icomb in the Covnty of Glocister [Gloster] Esqr
and the Right Honovrable the Lady Elizabeth COPE his wife:
Davghter to Sr Francis FANE, Earle of Westmorland
by whom he had issvu two sonns, Henry and William and two davghters, Elizabeth and
Rachel Elizabeth wife of Thomas WHITNEY of Whitney in the Covnty of Hereford, Esqr
The said Lady was widow of Sr John COPE of Hanwell in the Covnty of Oxford, Baronett
and mother to Sr Anthony COPE, John and Elizabeth.
This William and his lady lived together vpon earth many years in the fear of God
and now their bodys are laid to rest tell the last trvmpent blowing at ovr Lord and
Saviovrs second coming shall awaken them to receive that joyfvll sentence which
hee will pronovnce to all his elect, come yee blessed of my father
inherit the Kingdome prepared for yov from the fovndation of the World
This lady, Elizabeth deceased ye 10th of October Ano Dom 1669
The sd Will COPE dyed the 7th day of Auguft 1691 who left 33 pounds pannum to poores
Ufes in Icomb and Stow out of the lands in his mann of Icomb Anno Aetatis Suae 79
