ROWDE, a parish in the hundred of POTTERNE-and-CANNINGS, county of WILTS, 2 miles (W. by N.) from Devizes, containing 961 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Wilts, and diocese of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £6. 10., and in the patronage of the Rev. Dr. Starkey. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
