Inside St Giles's Church, Maisemore

Recent Photograph of Inside St Giles's Church (Maisemore)

A date of 1636 is carved inside the Pulpit, initialled by the churchwardens of the time, Giles HURLESTON and William LITTLE. Above and to the side of it is an 18th century hourglass, possibly a reminder to the clergy of the duration of the service!

The gravestones in St Giles's Churchyard have been photographed and transcribed, and the three-volume-survey, which was completed in 1999, is available for consultation inside the church (on a table, behind you and to the left of this photograph).

My thanks to Phil Draper for ‘bailing me out’ with this photo. I would have taken one of my own, but after taking several close-ups of the inscriptions on the War Memorial, “my film ran out”. :*)
