Ensign 31st foot, 9th Oct. 1799; Lieut. 16th May, 1800;
Capt. 15th Aug. 1805; Maj. 16th Nov, 1809; and brevet
L.-Col. 4th June, 1814. This officer served in 1814, as an
Assist.-Quar.-Mast.-Gen. in Ireland; he served in Spain and
Portugal, attached to the Portuguese army, and was present at
the battle of Albuhera, for which he has received a medal."
