YATE, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of HENBURY, county of GLOUCESTER, 1 mile (W.) from Chipping-Sodbury, containing 827 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Gloucester, rated in the king's books at £30. 18. 11., and in the patronage of Mrs. Goodenough. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
