St Faith's Church, Bacton

Recent Photograph of St Faith's Church (Bacton)

This church was built in the early 13th Century, with alterations and enlargements from the 15th Century. The date of the distinctively-squat tower is a matter of debate. According to the church leaflet, a Simon PARRY left £5 in his will for its erection. However the leaflet also cites other sources which say its construction is even earlier than the church. Certainly if this is the same Simon whose Admon is recorded amongst PCC Wills and Administrations at Vowchurch, there was no Will, and his estate was to be administered by his sister Blanche PARRY - who (again if one and the same) remains the church's most famous ‘resident’.
