Francis Hodgson Memorial, Eardisley

The inscription records:

To the Memory of
the Rev. Francis HODGSON B.D.
Scholar of Eton.
Fellow of Kings College Cambridge
Provost of Eton.
For many years Vicar of Bakewell
and Archdeacon of Derby.
Born Novr. 16th 1781. Died Decr. 19th 1852
and was buried in Eton College Chapel.
He was son of
the Rev. James HODGSON, M.A. and Jane his wife,
and grandson of the Rev. Richard COKE, M.A.
formerly Vicar of this parish.
In 1838 he married Elizabeth 2nd daughter of
Lord Chief Justice DENMAN,
by whom he left
two sons and three daughters.
This Tablet is raised to his loved & honoured memory
by his widow and his mothers family.
