Inside St Mary's Church, Edvin Loach (E)

The guide leaflet describes a high lofty ceiling, showing a wooden roof-structure - “rather like the framework of an upturned boat” - which I thought was a nice analogy.

The name of the village derives from the Norman de Loges family, added to the Saxon Gedeven (Edefen), meaning “Gedda's marshy land”.
