St Bartholomew's Church, Much Marcle (Sir John Kyrle and his Wife)

Recent Photograph of St Bartholomew's Church (Sir John Kyrle and his Wife) (Much Marcle)

Centre stage is an excellent tomb chest with effigies of Sir John Kyrle d.1650 and his wife, with stunning detailing of features and clothes. His feet rest on a hedgehog - Sir John Kyrle's Boots - why? In comparison, the oak effigy of a knight c1360 in the north aisle, gaudily coloured, is rustic and crude, although seemingly longer than life!
