St Peter's Church, Staunton on ArrowThe sun was just beginning to break through for our arrival at Staunton on Arrow, on a previously gloomy day. In AD 958, the estate of Staunton was granted by King Edgar to Ealthstan, one of his noblemen. Near to the church is the motte and bailey of a medieval castle, the church at one time being inside its perimeter. The river Arrow runs to the south west, whilst to the north of the village are the remains of the Iron Age fort at Wapley Hill. (Information provided by Rosemary Lockie)
