St John the Baptist's Church, Upton Bishop (Tomb Recess)

Recent Photograph of St John the Baptist's Church (Tomb Recess) (Upton Bishop)

This Tomb recess is in the aisle with a near flat effigy of a... Civilian holding a floppy disc... Pevsner says 14th century but I think it is earlier. Try as we might we did not find the Roman effigy built into the chancel wall. It could only be behind a very new wooden extension between the aisle east wall and the vestry, or removed for preservation.
