St Peter's Church, Withington (Rood Screen)The Rood Screen here is decorated with hops for the Harvest Festival - it was added to the church during the 15th century. This view is from the Chancel. The pulpit is on the other side of the screen; beside it is a piscina of late 13th century, and a rather larger recess (just visible in this photograph) of the same date. The guide leaflet doesn't suggest what it might have been used for, but I wondered if it may have contained a statue, or a memorial. (Information provided by Rosemary Lockie)
