St Laurence's Church, Ludlow (Altar Carving)The chancel is entered by passing through rows of choir stalls, provided for the priests who served the church. Their upper carvings, like those on the reredos we see on this photograph, are Victorian, but the stalls, with their misericords are 15th century. A plaque recording the burial of the heart of Arthur, Prince of Wales, who died at Ludlow Castle in 1502, is set in the Chancel floor. There is a close-up of the plaque below.
