The Gatehouse, Ludlow (Broadgate)

Ludlow was created a walled town by Edward I, with seven gates originally. Broadgate is the only one now remaining, following the town's 19th century refurbishment.

‘Halt! Who goes there?’ Clearly it would have been difficult for undesirables to get past surveillance from the sides, and above!
