The population is returned with the parish. There is a place of worship for Calvinistic and Wesleyan Methodists. The manufacture of tape, supposed to to; the most extensive in Europe, was established at Upper Tean, in 1748, at which, and in the adjoining bleaching grounds, several hundred persons find employment. The proprietors support schools for the children of their workpeople. In the neighbourhood are several fine mansions and elegant villas. |
