Inside St Mary the Virgin's Church, CalneInside, the Norman arcades appear low against the tall 15th century clerestory, which was added at a later date. Yet the east arches are tall, and the chancel arcades are Tuscan work of the late 17th century, a consequence of the collapse of a central tower in 1638. Not much else to note except for the pendant Fan Vault of the North Porch. Yet a stately impressive church, which I really liked. (Information provided by Phil Draper)
