Inside All Saints Church, Sutton Benger (South Aisle)

Recent Photograph of Inside All Saints Church (South Aisle) (Sutton Benger)

The aisle is unusual ornate Decorated of the 14th century, with 19th century replacement of a former Doric arcade separating from the (rather plain) nave and chancel. Here too is a Norman font.

On the west wall is a very large Green Man respond, which has probably been retooled but surely belonging to the original 14th century build. It has similar birds in foliage as at St Mary Redcliffe in Bristol. Outside this aisle has much use of ballflower ornamentation in the windows and in a moulding starting by the tower, arching over the west aisle window and continuing along the south wall above the windows.
