Our Lady & St Alphonsus RC Church, Hanley Swan

Recent Photograph of Our Lady & St Alphonsus RC Church (Hanley Swan)

The first RC Church in the Malvern area was built in 1846 to the designs of Charles Hansom, although the church was attributed to A W N Pugin by the Victoria County History. It was and still is fairly isolated (in Blacmore Park) as were many early Catholic churches in the early days after Emancipation.

I think the whole group with the presbytery is delightful, and was really sorry that it was locked. According to the Buildings of England the interior is vaulted and divided into nave and aisles something which the exterior does not suggest.
