St Mary's Church, Madresfield (West Window)The bronze monument under the west window is a memorial to Hon. Edward Hugh LYGON (1873-1900) and Hon. Richard Fitzroy SOMERSET (1865-1899), who both died during the Boer War. Edward was killed during the War; Richard died of fever in West Africa. The monument is the work of sculptress Lady Feodora GLEICHEN, whose works also include a statue of Queen Victoria (1895), a fountain in Paris (1901), and the Florence Nightingale memorial in Derby.
