The Old Hall, Elton

Recent Photograph of The Old Hall (Elton)

This was a nice surprise - we hadn't known Elton had a Hall and an old one to boot!

It is situated at the side of the main road, Winster end of the village. The stone lintel above the brown door to the left of the gate is inscribed:
T (diamond shape) B[1]
1668

(Information provided by Janet Kirk)

Reference
[1] These initials may allude to the Tibetot & Bardolf families, who held the manor of Elton as detailed in Joseph Tilley's Old Halls, Manors and Families of Derbyshire, Volume I: Stanton Old Hall, The Bowers, and Stanton Woodhouse. And there again, perhaps not, as they appear to have occupied it long before 1668.
