The Village Cross, Great Longstone

Recent Photograph of The Village Cross (Great Longstone)

Those from “out of area” may not realise that the cute little ‘hut’ in the background is in fact a typically 1960s Peak District bus shelter! Ah, Brave New World, when there was time and money to build them of Derbyshire stone, with a stone slate roof! The bus stop sign is outside on the right; whilst inside there's a wooden seat, and on the left wall, the all-important time table.
