ROWSLEY (GREAT), a township in the parish of BAKEWELL, hundred of HIGH-PEAK, county of DERBY, 3 miles (S.E. by E.) from Bakewell, containing, with part of the township of Alport, 238 inhabitants. The village is situated near the confluence of the rivers Derwent and Wye, The township is entitled to partake in the benefit of Lady Manners' school at Bakewell.
