Inside St Mary the Virgin's Church, Ross

Recent Photograph of Inside St Mary the Virgin's Church (Ross)

The glass in the East Window dates from 1430, and belonged to Bishop Thomas Spofford's chapel at Stretton Sugwas. It was brought to Ross in 1792 when the chapel was demolished following a fire. It was eventually fitted to the window as we see it now in 1873.

The panels are said to be (left to right) King Ethelbert, St. Anne (mother of the Virgin Mary), Joachim (possibly Mary's father), and lastly St Thomas Cantilupe, Bishop of Hereford (1275).
