St Mary's Church, Ross (Scott Monument)

The inscription on this rather grand monument reads:

IHS
In hope of
a blessed resurrection
here resteth
from his labours
Walter SCOTT
the grateful restorer of
The Blue Coat School
he departed this life
IVth [4th] December
MDCCLXXXVI [1786]
aged LXX. [70]
