Description of Enumeration District.
“Civil Parish - Highlow (entire)
Highlow Hall and Cottage, The Oaks, Mount Pleasant, Martin Howe's House and Lead Mills”

The Enumerator was Mr. George Platts.

This transcription has been provided very kindly by Frances Hudson.

Addresses contain Folio (‘F’), Page (‘P’) and Census Schedule (‘S’) Numbering - for example ‘F18/P1/S1’ - Folio 18, Page 1, Schedule 1. The Folio is the number hand-stamped at the top right of each odd-numbered page and the Schedule is the household sequence adopted for the Census return. This is not necessarily a house number, nor even an indication that particular households are next to each other, but merely the order the Enumerator recorded the households.

Please note also there are two additional fields on 1901 Census forms. They are headed: “Worker, Employer or Own Account” & “At Home” and in this presentation are shown in square brackets [] immediately after Occupation. Marital Status is indicated by a single letter - ‘M’=Married, ‘S’=Single, ‘W’=Widowed.
