Pictures of the Past : View from Station Road (1st June 1928), BakewellThis view is taken from Station Road, looking down onto Coombs Road, which runs below Station Road. All Saints Church spire is hazily visible in the distance. Although the open field in front of us has been built on, a "Google StreetView" journey along Coombs Road reveals that the view can still be recognised today. Indeed, the telegraph pole between us and the Church is still there, albeit replaced with a more modern version of the one on this photograph! (Information provided by Rosemary Lockie) This image is one of a collection of photographs taken during a touring holiday in the summer of 1928, and is dated 1st June that year.
