The Boat Inn, Ashleworth
The dark brown sign above the small window proclaims the name of this hostelry! The River Severn, to the back of the photographer, was placid and easy-going in July when this photograph was taken, but during heavy winter rains this location, and the village of Ashleworth generally is prone to severe flooding. Nevertheless it was once a quay-of-call for bargemen; and the roadway to it is still signposted as such. (Information provided by Rosemary Lockie) Reference
