The Boat Inn, AshleworthThe dark brown sign above the small window proclaims the name of this hostelry! The River Severn, to the back of the photographer, was placid and easy-going in July when this photograph was taken, but during heavy winter rains this location, and the village of Ashleworth generally is prone to severe flooding. Nevertheless it was once a quay-of-call for bargemen; and the roadway to it is still signposted as such. (Information provided by Rosemary Lockie) Reference
