Withington Parish Church
The Church of St.Michael and All Angels is "like a small
Cathedral", wrote William Cobbett in his Rural Rides.
The original Church was Norman, of which the entrance doorway is an
excellent example of their work.
13th Century, the Nave was raised, Chancel extended and the height of
the Tower was increased.
14th Century, South transept added.
15th Century, The Church underwent extensive alterations.
17th Century, Marble Monument dedicated to the HOWES of Cassey
Compton and sited at the west end.
