St Mary's Church, Castle Eaton

Recent Photograph of St Mary's Church (Castle Eaton)

Situated by the Thames, this church has a rather comical appearance due to an over-sized bell turret over the chancel arch. Pevsner says that this is 19th century (Butterfield) but why would he build this afresh? Surely this is a replacement of something already existing? It boasts west tower, nave, north aisle and chancel with transeptal north chapel.
