Boots the Chemist, LedburyThe unexpected fascade above ‘Boots the Chemists’! Like its neighbour on the right, and many of the other timber framed buildings in Ledbury's High Street and Homeend, this fascade had been encased in plaster. However apparently during one of our very dry summers in the 1980s or 90s, the plaster started to flake off, and the underlying timber framing was exposed. The frontage underneath was however unusual as it was discovered to be intact. Other buildings would have started off looking like this, but may have had the odd joist inserted, or parts of the timbering could have been removed since they were builit, so unfortunately they cannot all be restored to this high standard.
