Census Transcription Copyright Notice

The Crown waives its copyright in Crown copyright material in public records (such as Census returns) available to the public which were unpublished when they were transferred (ex. 26 March 1999)

Note however that any Census transcriptions are nevertheless the copyright of the transcriber, and themselves may NOT be reproduced - other than for personal use - without the permission of the transcriber.

For transcriptions pre-dating 26 March 1999, permission was granted to Rosemary Lockie to reproduce without fee on the Internet transcripts of Crown copyright material from the 1851 census returns for selected parishes in Derbyshire and Gloucestershire.
