St John the Baptist's Church, Mathon (Glass)

Recent Photograph of St John the Baptist's Church (Glass) (Mathon)

One of the windows in the Chancel, designed by Frederick Preedy. According to the leaflet Churches on the Preedy Trail (in which there is a photograph of this window), he may have been taught to paint by a cousin, Henry Styleman Le Strange, and he later taught himself to make stained glass. His career as an architect and stained glass artist lasted for over 30 years, and his windows have been traced in over 100 churches. Apparently it was unusual to be both an architect and painter.
