St Bartholomew's Church, Whittington (2003)

Recent Photograph of St Bartholomew's Church (2003) (Whittington)

A very distinctive, and attractive little Church - the building on the right is Whittington Court.

A plaque on the wall to the right of the window nearest us says:-

To the Memory of Giles
Watkins Gent fometime
Curate of ys Parifh who was
Buried ye 7h of Feb. 1690
By Doctrine and Example He
Taught Men to Live and how to Dye
He led the way and fpeaks the dead
To All That they the Same fteps tread
Kneel at their Prayers be diligent
Their parts perform and be intent
At Sermon that in time they may
To Heavenly Joyes find on the Way.

A strangely worded verse - but that appears to be what it says!
