People of Stoney Middleton - The Goddard Girls

Old Photograph of The Goddard Girls (Stoney Middleton)

The GODDARD sisters with their mother (seated), Maria GODDARD née BAMFORD: standing left to right are Mary (b.1889 - mar William SLATER), Bertha (b.1898 - mar 1926 Lawrence Henry FOX), Laura Louise (b.1890 - mar 1917 Richard Stanley NALL), and Ellen Elizabeth (b.1885 - mar 1913 Arthur Jewitt MYCOCK).

The small boy is my father William GODDARD, born 19 Feb 1909, and the baby is James MYCOCK, Ellen Elizabeth's son, born 1914. The picture is believed to date from mid 1914. Maria GODDARD died three years later, on 15 Feb 1917 aged only 59.

There is a photograph of William SLATER shown in Goddard's Quarry. Maria GODDARD is also believed to be leaning against a wall on the old postcard of The Village Street. Bertha and Laura Louise are also on the associated photgraph of Goddard Boys.

My father and James MYCOCK can be seen together again 20 or so years later on the photograph of Coronation Celebrations (1937).
