Stoney Middleton - Sketch of The NookThis delightful sketch shows St Martin's Church and ‘Spa Cottage’ - where the one-time village schoolmistress Jemima White (aged 48) was living in 1861. ‘Spa’ is perhaps a reference to the Bath House and thermal spring nearby for ‘taking the waters’.
