Some Memorial Inscriptions - Stoney Middleton, Derbyshire
St Martin's Churchyard & Stoney Middleton Cemetery

The bulk of the transcriptions on this page were completed by members of the Derbyshire Ancestral Research Group (DARG) in 1988, and reproduced with their very kind permission. The memorials have been copied verbatim, including any epitaphs, and have been typed as such, except where the '/' symbol (a forward-slash) indicates a new line in the original inscription. Each inscription includes an indication of the form the memorial takes eg 'Gritstone Headstone'. Sections which are underlined indicate that the letter or number concerned is either wholly or partially illegible.

DARG's original source was in two parts - Churchyard and Cemetery - each of which was split into two sections, A and B. As these were to be merged into one webpage it has been necessary to renumber them; however the original DARG labels are also included for reference eg [A11]. Some independent transcriptions are also included alongside DARG entries where appropriate, and as additions to the end of the DARG recordings. Also included are photographs of selected MIs, kindly contributed by Peter & Janet Kirk, Glenn Trezza, Paul Bradford, Sue Thomas and myself (Rosemary).

My grateful thanks to all contributors who have made this collection possible.

The following MIs were contributed by the Derbyshire Ancestral Research Group on 8th December 2001 and re-transcribed from printed copy by Rosemary Lockie.
