Stoney Middleton - Sketch of The Grouse Inn

Black and White Sketch of The Grouse Inn (Stoney Middleton)

This sketch is based upon an old postcard which shows a Gypsy Waggon on its way through the village (recognisable by its distinctive curved roof, and small front window) Note also The Grouse Inn behind the wall on the right, partly hidden by the Toll Bar Cottage, its gable end advertising ”Tennants Ales and Stouts“.

Apart from the type of traffic (!) the view has changed very little today, although ‘The Grouse’ is now a private house.

Another Sketch shows the front of The Grouse Inn.
